Amazon River, South America Project 1 - Community Assessment of Jungle Village Needs Assess the community needs of native riverside villages along the the tributaries of the Amazon River in Brazil. Work with the Brazilian government and local non-profit associations to analyze and develop projects relative to need. A large effort of assessment will go toward potential micro-lending opportunities for jungle families in the remote Amazon. Other projects identified thus far have to do with emergency services (river ambulances), communication, medical and dental training, clean water projects, and education boosts. Project 2 - Emergency Services Thousands of people die each year because remote villagers of the Amazon cannot get to a hospital fast enough to treat emergencies. Your donation would go towards emergency boating and communication between jungle communities. See home page story that inspired this project. Project 3 - Medical and Dental Supplies Quite often there are Adventure Giving travelers who are trained medical and dental professionals. When they are on a trip, they have the opportunity to train community specialists in the areas of medical and dental emergencies. At the same time, there is much need for medical and dental supplies. Your donation would go toward emergency medical and dental supplies. Project 4 - Education One village chief said, "I wish we had the means to educate our children like you do." Your donation would go towards 1) constructing small school houses, 2) providing school supplies, and 3) giving scholarships for higher education. Education = self-sustainability. Project 5 - Micro-Enterprise Loans An industrious community is a prosperous community. Inter-community trade is a way by which communities can become economically self-sustaining. Your donation would go towards 1) assessing sustainable micro-franchising opportunities, and/or 2) actually funding micro-franchises. Many of these potential micro-franchises include the trading of local agriculture products.
Thank You! Your contribution is greatly appreciated and will be wisely used to help you make a difference.
